THE ST. LOUIS BONE AND JOINT CENTER
FAMILY AND SPORTS CHIROPRACTIC
Quality Care You Can Trust
Dr. Werner strives to heal the body through chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue management, and other manual therapy techniques.
Reducing Pain. Restoring Function.
Improper function of the spine due to slight misalignments often causes poor health and function, even in areas far removed from the spine itself. Misalignments happen every day, from car accidents to sports and exercise, to every day functions like sitting and sleeping. As these misalignments accumulate, they reduce the ability of your body to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Even the slightest malfunction of your spine may prevent a portion of your body from responding optimally.
Chiropractic care is a natural form of health care that uses spinal adjustments to correct these misalignments and restore proper function, helping your body to heal naturally. Chiropractic care doesn’t use drugs or surgery to relieve pain and restore function; rather, an adjustment corrects the misalignment, freeing up your body to recuperate on its own.
While the two most common reasons people seek out a chiropractor are back pain and neck pain, chiropractic techniques accomplish much more. Proper care can help with headaches, neck pain, and sciatica, pain and loss of function that may result from car accidents, sports injuries, heredity and other situations.
Soft Tissue Management
At The St. Louis Bone and Joint Center - Family and Sports Chiropractic, Dr. Eric Werner utilizes Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.). A.R.T. is one of the leading soft tissue therapies for the treatment of muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. These soft tissue structures can become adhered to one another creating dense, tough scar tissue inside the body, often resulting in musculoskeletal pain. When adhesions form they interfere and alter the proper motion of the muscles and joints.
A.R.T. is often the main soft tissue treatment for collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes, but can help any patient regardless of their athletic prowess.
A.R.T. can help reduce and/or eliminate musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain associated with, but not limited to: headaches, back pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, knee pain, tennis elbow, shin splints, little leaguers elbow, and nerve entrapments.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT!
Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you and welcome you as a member of our family. We will request you fill our patient forms (unless you've already downloaded and filled them out at home). The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.
Next, you will have a consultation to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for your doctor to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care will meet your goals.
After your consultation, your doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
After a discussion regarding your history and your treatment goals, examination of your spine and review of any x-rays or tests, your doctor will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If your doctor believes we can help you, we will recommend treatment and a wellness program.
Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of the appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physiotherapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment with which you will be most comfortable.

Why Choose Conservative Care First
What is the Science Behind an Adjustment?
What our patients are saying about us!
I was lucky enough to have Dr. Eric on my sideline when I sprained my ankle in a football game. I received an immediate on site evaluation and treatment. Dr. Eric was very professional and informative in regard to my injury and was a huge part of my recovery. He is very educated and experienced and knows how to talk to an athlete about their injury, treatment, and rehabilitation. Dr. Eric listened carefully to what caused me pain and discomfort and was very pro-active in getting me pain free as soon as possible. More important than getting me pain free, Dr. Eric was focused on getting me as close to 100% as possible. I would recommend Dr. Eric to anyone with an injury or experiencing discomfort, especially if they want to become more knowledgeable about their specific injury and what steps are required to heal properly.
I would like to thank Dr.Werner for his advice and the treatment I received for back pain. I am currently in my 5th month of pregnancy and am doing pretty well. I had sciatica of my right leg and suffered unbearable pain with numbness restricting my daily activities. I must say although I had pain while I was undergoing the treatment, the relief I received afterward was worth it all. I did not have to taken any pain medications and with 3 treatments, I was doing incredibly well. I have never received any prior chiropractic treatment and hence was quite apprehensive at first but am very glad that I came to the right place and thankfully am now pain free!!!
“Gracie began chiropractic after such a great experience for her brother. Every winter, Gracie’s colds would always settle in her ears, resulting in several ear infections. Once the initial scans were done, we noticed Gracie had an unsettled nervous system. With chiropractic care, Gracie has had mild colds and a mild case of the flu, but NO ear infections! I attribute the mild cases to her system being strong and healthy now. Her scans are clear, and she is sleeping soundly after three years of nightly waking! She is outgrowing a need for a daily nap, but the sound sleep at night is allowing her to wake up rested each day!”
